THE NATURAL FACE GLOW

Updated: Feb 14, 2021

Beauty and skin secrets start from the inside out, first you have to be happy about who you are and talk beautifully to yourself as much as possible.

Each morning I like to caress my skin, stare at it, laugh at it, and give it the attention it needs.

I need to see my own beauty and to continue to be reminded that I am worthy of love without effort, that I am beautiful, that the texture of my hair and that the shape of my curves, the size of my lips, the color of my skin, and the feelings that I have are all worthy and okay.”- Tracee Ellis Ross

Diet & Water

The first thing regarding skin is the foundation, not the creamy foundation we buy, but establishing our own foundation from within. To improve this, a lot things will first come down to your diet; simply because, "you are what you eat". If you eat terrible acidic things, your mood and body will reflect just that. However, there are times when even my diet is great, but my skin has random things going on, that is okay. The goal sometimes is getting comfortable with yourself. Every morning, start your day with spring water because that will provide the body with hydration, which is great for your hair, skin, and nails. While you do this be consistent at it, don't be afraid to incorporate whole foods such as fresh veggies and fruits daily. Green foods also help to flush out a lot of the toxic things you have stored in you.

Soaps and lotions

In addition to loving your skin, invest in your shower and lotions. Make sure your products are natural and earthy, these type of products add the best benefit to the skin because they have the least manipulation to them and highest mineral intake. Try searching for organic products, you will begin to see the difference overtime. Sometimes I use ginger massage oil, the ingredients and scent makes my skin feel happy or a serum. Remember, scent is also something that will make your skin improve and give you a natural pheromone throughout the day. One of my favorite soaps to use is

Soaps I use are:

  • African black soap

  • Shea butter soap

  • Lush soap products

Face Scrub

LISTEN, this is the most important part. So think about it, your body is constantly growing and renewing new cells all the time. Face scrubs really get to the "new" layer of skin. I often purchase coffee scrubs. There are so many out there, please make sure you know what works for your skin.

My face is not really sensitive, so scrubs I use are:

  • Himalayan salt

  • Coffee scrub

  • Sugar scrub (entire body)

  • Sea salt scrub, etc.

Once you find out what works for you, layer the scrub on your face in circles and then let it sit for about 10-15min. Wash away gently with warm water. Add serums, lotions, etc.

Often times, I might add a face mask for a dewy look finish or hydration spray.

Hydration sprays I typically use are:

  • Rose water

  • Sea salt

  • Vitamin C glow

It all depends on your skin, but you will learn what is too much and what is too little. Always read ingredients and stay away from unnatural products or chemicals on your face.

Morning masks and night creams

So look, I thought night masks/creams were a scheme until I actually tried one that was given to me for free. So you know how you wake up and it looks like you just got hit by a bus, well night creams will allow the product to absorb in your skin overnight and you will wake up with super soft skin! After I tried one, I would advise looking into wearing night masks. It is not a "must have" but definitely an item worth trying or doing 1-2 times a month.

Often times, I might add a face mask sheet for a dewy look or additional hydration (especially during winter months). So after you do your face washing routing, add a face mask sheet.

Face mask sheets I typically go for:

  • Hydration

  • Glow

  • Moisturizing

  • Vitamin C

  • Collagen

If you are looking for a creamy face masks, Dr.Kiehl's has a nice brand and an avocado mask that you can use, however feel free to use the face masks that you peel and keep on your face for about 15-20min. When my face masks are on, this is usually when I make my bed, clean the bathroom, brew my tea, or do small tasks to feel like time is moving fast. Once I am done, I simply take off the mask and throw it away or I rinse off the residue.

Under eye masks (major key)

Never underestimate the power of the area below your eye. This area is what really makes you appear "sleep" or "Awake". Don't be too frugal, invest in under eyes creams and also apply them in the morning if you need to. I have a night one that I use. Your skin is all you have and you want to appear lively and happy. Your appearance will also make you happy, these fun hobbies will make you enjoy yourself and discover love within.

Natural tips:

  • Sleep, your body needs a break.

  • We use our face more than we think, it's always in front of a screen absorbing radiation. Make sure you go outside to get some oxygen.

  • Try to force yourself to have a night alarm, just like you have a morning alarm. Actually, do me a favor, SET YOUR NIGHT ALARM RIGHT NOW.

  • I know we all like to work late and check social media. However, at some point on certain days you will need to know when to call it quits and just wake up earlier to get more done. Although it might not seem like it, there is enough time in the day to get things done. Getting rest should be one of them.
